Hawthorn are making an "aggressive" push to acquire Gold Coast star Tom Lynch, according to Essendon legend Tim Watson.

After letting the Suns know what his intentions of leaving the club, Lynch will be looking to join either Hawthorn, Collingwood or Richmond.

“I’m hearing that they (Hawthorn) are very aggressive in their pursuit of Tom Lynch and what they potentially might offer,” Watson told SEN Breakfast.

“They believe that might influence the Gold Coast Suns, who may be able to influence Tom Lynch as to where he should go, if in fact he believes it is one of those three clubs.

“I think it would have to be maybe a couple of players as well. I’m hearing they are being aggressive in this space.”

According to The Herald Sun's Sam Edmund, Hawks coach Alastair Clarkson is rallying hard for Hawthorn to sign Lynch.

“What I’ve been told about Hawthorn is Alastair Clarkson will not let it go,” Edmund said.

“In fact, he is fanatical. He is like a dog with a bone. He thinks he is right in there.”
