Melbourne midfielder Dom Tyson will need to choose between North Melbourne and Gold Coast, after the Roos stepped up their interest in the Demon.

Tyson has another year to run on his contract, although he could be involved in a trade deal to send Roos ruckman Braydon Preuss to Melbourne.

AFL.com.au understand the Roos have zeroed in on Tyson following Andrew Gaff's decision to stay in Perth, and are interesting in bringing the 25-year-old to Arden Street.

Despite the Suns' interest in Tyson, The Age believe he'll add his name to the growing list of players in joining the Roos this trade period.

Tyson has played at least 15 games in all five seasons at Melbourne, and has averaged 23.4 disposals since joining the Dees at the end of the 2013 season.
