Dylan Shiel will likely go to Hawthorn or Carlton in 2019, according to Tom Browne from Triple M Footy.

The GWS star still has one year remaining on his contract, but it is understood the club are willing to offload him amidst their serious salary cap constraints.

According to Browne, St Kilda and Essendon are out of the race, leaving Hawthorn and Carlton to compete for Shiel's signature in 2019 and beyond.

It is understood that Hawthorn is Shiel's ideal destination, but the explosive midfielder might be lured by a bigger offering from Carlton who are in desperate need of another star mid to complement Patrick Cripps.

Shiel has played 135 games for the Giants since 2012 and was named as an All-Australian  for the first time in 2017.
