Magpie Matt Scharenberg is reportedly open to a trade according to The Age.

The report suggests the former No.6 draft pick is considering moves within Victoria and not just back home to South Australia.

The 24-year-old has had injury problems throughout his career, including three knee reconstructions in 2013, 2015 and last year, limiting him to just 38 senior appearances since his 2015 debut.

He may be contracted for 2020 at the Pies but a multiple-season contract with assurances of senior selection is likely to be all it would take to lure him away.

The Age understands Scharenberg could cost his new club only a late pick, and any deal would take place late in the trade period.

Scharenberg played five VFL games this year and averaged 21 possessions per outing.
