North Melbourne midfielder Ryan Clarke has walked through the Sydney Swans' facilities this week, ahead of what looms to be a busy trade period for the Roos.

Clarke is off contract at the end of the season, after playing 19 games for North Melbourne in 2018.

AFL.com.au understand Clarke is weighing up his options, with the Swans looming as a potential destination for the 21-year-old.

He has played 40 games for the Roos since joining the club with the 31st pick in the 2015 National Draft, although he will need to be traded to the Swans as he's not a free agent.

It might not be the only deal between the two clubs during October, with Swans defender Nic Newman visiting Arden Street earlier this month.

North Melbourne look set to be the biggest players during October, with Jared Polec, Andrew Gaff, Aaron Hall and Newman all linked with the club.

The Roos are all but certain to land Polec, who recently confirmed he had accepted North Melbourne's offer.
