The AFLW trade period is beginning to heat up, with a lot of rumours and interest in certain players circulating.
We have just seen the newly formed North Melbourne fire the first shots of this trade period, by snagging the Western Bulldogs 2017 best and fairest Emma Kearney.
Now Collingwood have declared interest in Carlton captain Bri Davey. The Pies had previously met with Davey before the inaugural season.
However the childhood Magpie supporter eventually signed with their oldest rival Carlton.
At the moment, Davey is recovering from an ACL tear sustained in round two of the 2018 season. She should be fit and ready for 2019 season however.
Clubs may give up to four players to the new squads that will be coming into the 2019 season, being Geelong and North Melbourne respectively.
The hot topic of the AFLW trade period however, is the fate of Adelaide's gun midfielder Erin Phillips.
A former basketballer and two time WNBA champion with the Indiana Fever and Phoenix Mercury respectively.
She joined the Crows' expansion into the AFLW and averaged a total of 20 possessions per game in 2017. The season in which she was judged the MVP.
The Magpies have not been linked to Philips despite her father having played for the club in the 1980's.
Neither have the Geelong or North Melbourne camps either. It is not known whether Phillips will resign with the Crows as she has not made a public statement as of yet.
