Carlton veteran Dale Thomas has landed himself in hot water for an alcohol-related incident at a charity event last Friday night, as reported by Channel Nine's Caroline Wilson on Footy Classified.

It is understood that the 31-year old had too much to drink and was involved in an altercation with former Fremantle and Carlton ruckman Robbie Warnock.

The incident took place just two days before the Blues' loss to St Kilda on Sunday.

“Dale Thomas went out on Friday night and my understanding is had too much to drink,” Wilson said.

“It was at one of the big hotels in Melbourne, a Camp Quality charity function. A lot of reports swirling around about what happened.

“The club heard about it, alarm bells rang, they spoke to Dale Thomas today. He’s assured you (Chris Judd) he had a couple of drinks, you weren’t happy about it but accepted that’s what it was. My understanding is it might’ve been a bit more than two drinks.

“There’s even a suggestion there’s might’ve been an incident with a former footballer, Robbie Warnock, who we know was also at the function, involving maybe drink spilling.

“I don’t think this is over for Dale Thomas and the club has confirmed to me just before going on air that they’re going back to Dale, they’re going to have another look at his explanation.”

Fellow panellist and Carlton board member Chris Judd said the club was undergoing an investigation of the incident.

“I’m not one to infantise players, I think if players have a single beer or a couple of wines, I don’t have a huge problem,” Judd said.

“Needless to say, drinking full stop, in public two days before a game when you’re 1-9, fails the stupidity test, clearly. We’ll wait and see what the results of the investigation are.”

Thomas comes out of contract at the end of this season.
