Collingwood defender Ben Reid will miss up to four weeks due to a quad injury.

The 28-year-old, who has played seven of eight games this season, suffered the injury during the Pies' three-point loss to Greater Western Sydney over the weekend.

The injury-prone Magpie had scans on Monday.

"Ben had a scan today after coming off the ground late in the game," Football Manager Geoff Walsh told the club's website.

"Subsequently, the scans have shown he has injured his quad, and he is likely to miss 3-4 weeks."

Reid has long struggled to sting games together at Collingwood, with injuries ravaging his career in recent years.

He played four games in 2014, five games in 2015 and 17 games last season.

He has averaged 16 disposals, 7.7 marks and one tackle per game this season.
