Essendon speedster Orazio Fantasia is a chance to return to the side this weekend against the Bulldogs.

Fantasia is yet to play a game this season after undergoing minor knee surgery late in the pre-season, but Essendon Physical Performance Manager Justin Crow said the dangerous small forward trained strongly over the weekend.

“Orazio had a big match simulation on the weekend, he trained well there,” Crow said on the SKINS Injury Update on Tuesday.

“He’ll train again on Thursday with the rest of the group. We’ll wait and see how he goes in that session before making a final decision on whether he plays or not.”

After the Bombers loss to Fremantle last weekend, Fantasia would be a handy inclusion to the side to take on the Western Bulldogs on Sunday.

Midfielder David Myers who is also yet to feature in Essendon’s line-up this year, did not complete as much training as Fantasia over the weekend but will still push for selection this Thursday.

“Dave Myers took a little longer to get going (and) has got some work in over the weekend. We’ll get him through that main training session and make a decision,” Crow told the club's website.

Crow also confirmed Adam Saad has escaped serious injury after rolling his ankle late in the match against Fremantle on Saturday.

“He was rewrapped, put back on the ground and finished the game,” he added.

“His ankle’s stable, after the flight it seems he’s in good condition as well and he’ll train this week and be available to play.”
