There have been over four decades of matches between the West Coast Eagles and the Fremantle Dockers in the battle for Perth, with many tight games that resonate with West Australians to this day.

West Coast are ahead in the ledger, with 33 wins out from 61 meetings against Fremantle. However, Fremantle's Paul Hasleby and Caleb Serong have won the Glendinning-Allan medal the most, at four times each.

Here's my ranking of the 10 most exciting games between the clubs in the lead-up to their 62nd meeting today at Optus Stadium.

8. Round 22, 2003

Fremantle 14.12 (96) defeated West Coast 11.16 (82)

After losing the last four meetings by considerable margins, the Dockers were keen to turn the tide of the tsunami of Eagles dominance befalling them. West Coast would lead at the half by four points, but a six-goal third term from Fremantle was enough to carry them over the line. Great performances from the likes of Paul Hasleby and Peter Bell inspired the turnaround.
