Former Magpie and Lion Dayne Beams has secured his footy future, signing on with Mornington Peninsula Netball and Football League side Pearcedale for the 2023 season.

As a premiership player with All-Australian and best and fairest honours to his name, Beams, 33, is set to bring a wealth of experience to Baxter/Tooradin Road.

The Panthers finished the 2022 season in fifth place on the division two table, finishing their season with a six-point loss to Karingal in the second week of the finals.

Beams' signature was announced on Wednesday by Pearcedale's Instagram account.

The tattooed midfielder's AFL career came to a close at the end of the 2020 season, with Beams retiring after 177 games and 172 goals.

Since hanging up the boots, Beams has spent time focusing on his rehabilitation from gambling and prescription drug addictions.

The former first-round draft pick has since become an advocate in the space, speaking openly about his battles and helping to shatter stigmas in the process.
