Port Adelaide big man Paddy Ryder successfully made a citizens arrest on Thursday, after his Adelaide home was allegedly broken in to by three burglars.

The All-Australian was with his brother when they were alerted by three home invaders, the incident eventuated into a car chase in west Adelaide at 4:15am ACDT on Thursday morning.

The three offenders made their escape in a stolen car, but were stopped in their tracks when they crashed in a nearby suburb.

The star ruckman saw this as opportunity and was able to catch one man before making a run for it.

The other two men involved were able to get away during the chase.

Ryder returned to his Adelaide home with his brother and the offender, where he called the police.

The man Ryder was able to apprehend is a 19-year-old and has been charged with illegal use of a motor vehicle, aggravated serious criminal trespass, theft and attempted serious criminal trespass.
