Star Collingwood forward Jamie Elliott will miss the side's round clash with reigning premiers, the Western Bulldogs.

Elliott, who did not play a single game in 2016 due to a back injury, suffered an ankle injury at training last month.

The 24-year-old failed to train on Friday and will subsequently miss the Friday night clash in a week's time.

Meanwhile, Scott Pendlebury looks a certain starter for round one, as he took part in match simulation to test out his sore Achilles, which saw him miss the final week of the JLT Series.
