Two former AFL players have found a new local footy home in the Western Region Football League.

According to a report from The Star Weekly, The Deer Park Lions have announced the signings of Levi Greenwood and Aaron Edwards for the 2022 season.

Greenwood retired earlier this year after playing 160-games for Collingwood and North Melbourne.

Edwards played 94 games in his AFL career, but hasn't played at the level since he was de-listed in 2014 by Richmond.

Edwards has recently played at St Kilda City, kicking 53-goals in 12-games, while Greenwood will come straight from the AFL.

After seven premierships in a row, Deer Park were sitting in fourth spot on the ladder when community sport was halted earlier this year.

The Lions have cobbled together an unprecedented string of September success in recent years, with the western suburbs club claiming each and every flag on offer between 2013 and 2019.
