Fremantle defender Griffin Logue has expressed his desire to remain at the Dockers despite being out of contract at season's end and receiving rival interest from Victoria.
As reported last month by Jon Ralph of The Herald Sun, Logue has been subject to interest from multiple Melbourne-based clubs after being in and out of Justin Longmuir's 22 to start 2022.
The 24-year-old has played in six of the Dockers' opening nine games this season and is competing with the likes of fellow key defenders Luke Ryan, Joel Hamling, Alex Pearce and Brennan Cox for a spot in the backline.
When asked by Fremantle great Matthew Pavlich about his future on Nine News Perth, Logue said he wishes to remain in the purple and white beyond this season.
"I definitely want to stay here, for sure," Logue said.
"I'm a Perth boy and I've grown up around here. Dad's always been a big Freo fan as well.
"I'll let that sort itself out towards the end of the year. For now, it's a pretty simple focus on playing the best footy I can personally, but more so as a team and see where we can really take it."
The Swans District product is fresh off a career-best game after collecting 29 disposals (career-high), 11 marks (six intercepts) and 17 intercept possessions, which is a club record, in Fremantle's upset loss to the Gold Coast Suns on Sunday.
Logue added that it had been "frustrating" to be in and out of the Dockers' 22 but aims to keep his spot in the in-form Fremantle side, who currently sit third on the ladder.
"I haven't felt like I've wavered too much in terms of my own form," Logue said.
"Obviously we're in a really good spot at the moment where we have a lot of depth to build off and unfortunately people are going to miss out - and that's been me a few times. It just shows the depth we have."
According to SEN's Sam Edmund, despite expressing his desire to stay, Logue is still expected to wait until the end of the season before making a decision on where he wants to play his football next season.
The Dockers will face the Magpies on Sunday evening in Perth, with Fremantle eager to bounce back from their loss to the Suns and improve their record to 8-2 for the season.
