Geelong have signed former Crows and Tigers forward Tyson Stengle as a delisted free agent to a two-year contract.

Stengle was axed by Adelaide earlier this year following a string of indiscretions, joining SANFL side Woodville-West Torrens for the remainder of 2021.

The 23-year-old had a stellar season at the Eagles, booting 44 goals for the year as Woodville-West claimed the premiership.

Having identified small forwards as an area to bolster for 2022, the Cats have swooped on Stengle's services.

“It is rare to be able to pick up such a young player as a free agent, and we are thrilled that Tyson has decided to continue his career with Geelong,” Geelong’s football boss Simon Lloyd said on the announcement.

“Tyson has shown an ability to play at AFL level, and he had a very successful season in the SANFL. We believe Tyson has the ability to have a long career at AFL level and he is a positive addition to our playing list.”

Stengle played 14 games for the Crows after heading to West Lakes at the end of the 2018 season from Richmond.

After making his debut in 2017, Stengle only made the one other appearance before looking for greater exposure with Adelaide.
