The Kangaroos have unveiled their 2019 leadership group with Jack Ziebell set to captain the club for a third-straight season.

Ziebell will again be supported by vice-captain Robbie Tarrant, with Jamie Macmillan and Shaun Higgins rounding out the four-man leadership group.

The North Melbourne skipper was delighted to lead the club for another season.

“You never take a role like this at a footy club as great as ours for granted,” Ziebell told North Media.

“It’s always an honour and particularly this season, in our 150th year as a football club.”

Ziebell explained how the club's list has matured over the past three seasons and said they were hoping to continue that development in 2019.

“In my first year we had a tough time as a relatively inexperienced group,” he said.

“We only managed six wins so a lot of the time it was a case of having to block out the external noise and ensure we remained up beat and positive, and also achieved what we set out to achieve.

“In 2018 we exceeded everyone’s expectations but our own, and although we recognised we still had a lot of work to do, we really showed that we are on the right track as a team and are building something really special.”

While stopping short of setting a benchmark for this season, Ziebell was confident that the Kangaroos have what it takes to feature in September.

“We never put a ceiling on expectations here, and I definitely think this team is capable of finals,” he said.

“Our midfield was significantly enhanced in the off-season and along with some great player acquisitions, our draftees and the organic growth we’ll get from those already on our list, it’s going to be an exciting year.

“We have a great supporter base and really hope they get behind us this season.”
