Brisbane's star recruit Lachie Neale will be a replacement for Dayne Beams in more than just the midfield in 2019, with the ex-Fremantle gun set to assume the past captain's old guernsey as well.

According to afl.com.au, Neale will play in the No.9 jumper for Brisbane next year, which Beams wore for four years with the Lions before his shock off-season move to the Magpies.

Neale looms as Brisbane's saving grace in the eyes of many Lions fans, lining up with captain Dayne Zorko in what is sure to be a frightening midfield combination.

Former Bulldog Marcus Adams has also received his jumper (No.24), and luckless half-forward Lincoln McCarthy has been granted a new start at Brisbane in No.11 after managing just 29 games with the Cats across seven seasons.

Irish recruit James Madden has also been assigned the No.42 guernsey.
