Carlton coach Michael Voss has addressed Saturday night's controversial last-minute score review that saw his side benefit from the goal umpire's initial call on the field.

Voss' Blues defeated the Demons by four points in a soggy affair at the MCG on Saturday evening, near-ensuring Carlton plays finals football this season for the first time since 2013.

However, it wasn't without controversy, as a long-range Christian Petracca shot at goal with under a minute remaining almost unravelled the Blues.

Initially adjudged a touched behind by the goal umpire, the score review adjudicators determined there wasn't enough evidence to overturn the umpire's call, meaning a behind was the ultimate decision made.

"I was sitting there just going, 'Please don't overrule this, you can't lose this way'," Voss said when asked post-game about the contentious incident on Saturday night.

"Thankfully, the call went our way and we were obviously able to hold on."

Beyond Carlton's close shave in the waning moments on Saturday, Voss expressed his pleasure at the way his men are playing, noting the playing group's 'hunger' and 'desire'.

"We're winning in different ways and we've shown great adaptability across the year," Voss said.

"We've had lots of questions asked of us but we're showing that resilience and grit, and we're able to put that into the way we're playing.

"You can see the boys have got some real hunger in and desire right now and they're really clear on what's needed."

The Blues will look to cement their finals positioning when they play Gold Coast and GWS across their final pair of home and away fixtures.
