Melbourne veteran Jack Viney may have provided the strongest hint that he will be joining West Coast in the upcoming trade period.

Vision emerged of Viney in Western Australia, with the Demons midfielder confirming he was touring the Eagles' facilities over the past few days.

West Coast and Essendon are in the running for the 238-gamer once he was encouraged by Melbourne to explore his options, despite holding a contract until the end fo 2028.

"Obviously a lot to weigh up," Viney said on Channel 10.

"Bit of a look around over the last couple of days. Bit to think about with the family and hopefully make a decision soon.

"I've been here the last couple of days. It's a great club. Big club. Obviously the family decision will be a big one, so will weigh it up with the wife and kids."

Viney has strong ties to Melbourne after following in his father's footsteps to the club, but also helping deliver the drought-breaking premiership in 2021.

But the nature of the AFL landscape is brutal in the modern sense, with the heartbeat of the Demons potentially donning new colours next year.

"It is what it is," Viney said.

"Footy is going that way, so there's a bit to process. Still early days, but we're here now, so we'll make the best of the opportunity.

"Yeah, a deal will get done."

The Eagles have Picks 3, 21, 39, 52, 57 and 66, as well as future selections in 2027 and 2028 that they can use.

Viney has been with Melbourne for 14 years, since he was selected as a father-son pick in 2012.

He co-captained the club between 2017 and 2019 and is a two-time Keith 'Bluey' Trustcott Trophy winner.
