Collingwood president Eddie McGuire has spoken publicly about an incident involving Pies midfielder Jordan De Goey on Saturday night.

De Goey returned a blood alcohol level of 0.095 in Port Melbourne on Saturday, and has his licence immediately suspended, and has also been disqualified from obtaining a licence for the next six months.

Speaking on The Hot Breakfast, McGuire discussed the situation, given the fact it was De Goey's second major indiscretion in the past 12 months.

"That's unacceptable behaviour from anybody... but you've got to be careful with these things not to overreact but at the same time get the right result for society, for our club, for everybody associated and for Jordan," McGuire said.

Fellow co-host Luke Darcy said former premiership captain Tony Shaw believes there are disciplinary issues in the club, but McGuire refuted those claims quite convincingly.

"I don't know what Tony says," McGuire said.

"Tony is a great supporter of the club - great friend, one of our greatest ever people - but has no insight at all into what is happening at the club."

"That's dial-a-quote stuff - you don't need that."

McGuire was also questioned about De Goey's prior conviction, and whether that was a concern.

"Yep - clearly you do," McGuire added.

"Jordan's got great family and we hope he gets himself right and gets the absolute potential out of his career."
