It appears young GWS forward Cam McCarthy is no closer to a return to football.
McCarthy, who desperately tried to complete a trade back home to Western Australia last year, returned to Perth two weeks ago for personal reason, as he battles homesickness and depression.
GWS refused to trade the 20-year-old last season with two years still to run on his contract. But the Giants have allowed McCarthy time away from the club in the hope that his condition will improve.
However, the Herald Sun is reporting that he is unlikely to play at all this year.
McCarthy had a breakout 2015, booting 29 goals in the opening 12 rounds of the season.
When you play afl you have a extremely high chance of not playing in your home state and if you aren’t willing to do that then you shouldn’t be playing
Tennika Brown

The AFL could fix it by putting in 4year contract for rookies, Giving out 2 years is why this happens. And 4 years allows rookies to develop without pressure of being cut after 2years
Trouble with that is some players turn out shit house
I agree with the idea, but maybe only for like top 30 picks or somedhing
That’s why you shouldn’t draft at 18. It should be 20Years old, it would sort a lot of players out.
If he ends up getting traded he should be suspended for every game he misses with GWS
Harden up son.
Harden up princess!!!
hes going down the MItch Clark route, mental illness to get to where he wants to go. the club will put him on the outer and Freo will pay big money for a dud like geelong did lol
