Essendon champion Matthew Lloyd has revealed the five best deliverers of the bump during his time in footy.

The hip and shoulder remains one of the game’s fiercest skills and a key part of its culture despite mellowing down from the rough crunches from yesteryear.

Speaking on AFL.com.auLloyd explained that his former coach Kevin Sheedy demanded a hard edge from his players, including their tackling skills and ability to execute the bump.

Lloyd said: “John was like the silent assassin. Didn’t say much out on the football field, but you knew he was coming. It was just the rate of knots that he came charging off the half back flank with and just had such a big strong upper body.”
