Football journalist Mike Sheahan believes Collingwood is well among the league’s elite teams, placing them as a genuine threat to win this season’s premiership.

While Nathan Buckley’s side are currently placed 6th on the ladder, Sheahan believes they are playing better than a side that far down the top eight.

“I like what I saw on Monday. I like the way they play, they’re committed to the cause” Sheahan told SEN on Friday afternoon.

Sheahan feels the Magpies are well within the premiership race, and says there’s even more improvement in the side to come – especially with 2 or 3 more player inclusions.

“I think they’re in the premiership mix and I reckon they’ve got three blokes that can come in and improve that team,” Sheahan added.

“I’ve got West Coast, Richmond, with Collingwood in the top three. I like them a lot.”

Collingwood have won their past four, and are currently just percentage outside the top four.
