St Kilda coach Ross Lyon has put the challenge on his players ahead of Sunday's clash with Western Bulldogs.

The Dogs (eighth on the ladder) have had the wood over the Saints (10th) in recent years, winning by 60, 71 and 72 points in the past three fixtures.

Lyon admitted on Thursday that the Dogs had been more than just a bogey-side in recent years.

"I'd be more specific, I reckon we have been their bunnies the past three times," Lyon said in a press conference.

"I hope our players are listening. For whatever reason they have put us to the sword the last three times. We as a club and as a player group need to respond.

"There are always lots of variables, but the big outcome is I feel like we have been their bunnies."

St Kilda is riding high after an impressive tight eight-point victory over GWS last weekend.

The Saints don't have to leave Victoria for the rest of the home-and-away season as they hunt for a wildcard or possible top six spot.

St Kilda will be hoping to add more firepower to its forward line this weekend with Lyon revealing gun small forward Jack Higgins is a possibility to return after missing since Round 10 due to a knee injury.

"It will rest on today, so we will see how (Higgins) goes today," he said. "But we think he will get up."

Star midfielder Nasiah Wanganeen-Milera finished the game with an ice pack on his lower leg last weekend, but Lyon assured Saints fans the silky player will be lacing up the boots come Sunday.

"(NAS) is like the boy in the bubble isn't he?" He said with a smile.

"Can't touch him. Nah, he is fine."
