Fremantle coach Ross Lyon says his side will see Saturday night's clash with second placed Sydney as simply another opportunity to improve against a quality outfit.

"It's going to be a really difficult assignment, they travel well, good teams win anywhere, they're a good team, so we're under no illusions how difficult it's going to be," Lyon said.

However, the Fremantle coach stressed that his side's focus needed to remain on their own development.

"It's a strong test of our football and you know, you need stress to be tested, to improve, so we see it as an opportunity to improve, and that's really our focus, we need to keep improving really every time we train and play to get to where we want to go.

"The focus has been on us and our footy and less on the opposition than we use to do, but we've scouted them and we've had a good look at them."

Lyon also said that Alex Silvagni and Tommy Sheridan both trained today and will be available this weekend, creating some selection headaches ahead of Saturday's match.

"We like to reward performance but sometimes you’ve got to make hard decisions."

"You need to look at the balance of the team," Lyon said.
