Melbourne is looking to change up its tall forward mix with 2024 Mid-Season Draft recruit Luker Kentfield to debut in the King's Birthday match against Collingwood on Monday.
The 194cm tall forward has been in impressive form at VFL level, booting 20 goals in eight games for the Casey Demons.
Kentfield was picked up from WAFL club Subiaco with pick 11 two seasons ago and has been biding his time in the VFL, kicking 24 goals from 17 games last season.
The 20-year-old impressed at the club during pre-season, but had any prospect of a debut delayed by a knee injury during a practice match.
Opponents Collingwood have followed a similar plan by debuting 2026 Mid-Season Draft recruit Mitch Podhajski.
The 27-year-old was named as a Pies debutant on Thursday.
Neither side are set with their key forward plans with the Dees' mix of Jacob van Rooyen, Matthew Jefferson, Brody Mihocek (injured) and at times Harrison Petty producing inconsistent performances. While the Pies have been struggling in attack after offloading Mihocek to the Demons in the trade period and struggling to get Daniel McStay and Jack Buller into form.
Kentfield - signed on until the end of the year - has kicked multiple goals in his previous six VFL matches, while in his past two games he has kicked consecutive bags of four.
