The Western Bulldogs have landed the first draft selection of the night, matching the Crows' bid for Bulldogs' prized Next Generation Academy product Jamarra Ugle-Hagan.

Adelaide opted for local tall Riley Thilthorpe with the second selection, a 201cm ruck/forward utility.

North Melbourne have shocked a number of clubs with their selection of Victorian midfielder Will Phillips with the third overall selection.

Sydney were able to select the next two players in the draft with Western Australian forward Logan McDonald heading to the Swans with pick 4 and matching Hawthorn's bid for Academy player Braeden Campbell at pick 5.
