Former Saints and Roos midfielder Nick Dal Santo has questioned the list depth of Geelong following the disappointing display from the Cats in their opening JLT clash.

Although the Cats were missing star trio Patrick Dangerfield, Joel Selwood and Gary Ablett, Dal Santo fears that if the three on-ballers are injured or out of form, the Cats don't have any standout replacements waiting in the wings.

โ€œWhat I saw yesterday only concerns me if one of their big three, or multiple out of those three or six, that werenโ€™t there yesterday are injured or out of form,โ€ the three-time All-Australian told SEN Afternoons.

โ€œThose players are just miles ahead of everyone else. That unfortunately makes everyone else look second rate.

โ€œWhat happens if Ablett does his hamstring again, or Dangerfield doesnโ€™t find the ball 30 times and kicks two or three goals a game and Selwood doesnโ€™t put the team on his back in the last quarter ad get them over the line? Thatโ€™s my concern.โ€

With the Cats missing arguably five of their 10 most important players, Dal Santo is slightly worried for the Cats should their players under-perform throughout the season. Scott Selwood and Harry Taylor were also missing on the weekend, who faced a very strong Gold Coast side that bolstered the majority of their best 22.

Geelong will play Essendon on Sunday, who was equally as disappointing in their opening JLT game. Both the Cats and the Bombers are likely to field a strong side.
