Lewis Young has signed a new three-year deal with Carlton, recommitting the club until at least the end of 2026.

Young played 19 games for the Blues last season, his first for the club after making the move from the Western Bulldogs at the conclusion of the 2021 season.

The 24-year-old impressed in his maiden season as a Blue, locking down a spot in the backline averaging 2.5 intercept marks and 10.1 spoils per game.

Carlton's Head of List Management, Nick Austin, welcomed Young's signature on the eve of the season.

“We were thrilled with what we saw from Lewis in his first season at the football club and he has backed that up over the summer, so to have him re-commit for another three years is a great result,” Austin said.

“Lewis really stood up last year when a few of his fellow defenders were out: his opportunity came, and he certainly took it with both hands.

“Lewis typifies our philosophy of being a good teammate, both on and off the field. We believe he has a lot of growth still ahead of him and we can't wait to see his game grow and develop over the next few years.”

Carlton will begin their season against Richmond on Thursday, March 16 at the MCG.
