North Melbourne young gun Phoenix Spicer will make his AFL debut this weekend in the Kangaroos' clash with Adelaide.

The 19-year-old will feature for David Noble's side at Adelaide Oval on Sunday, becoming the club's sixth debutant of the season.

Spicer, who was selected in last year's draft via the 42nd overall pick, was recruited to Arden Street from South Adelaide.

During a team meeting on Friday, club great Lindsay Thomas notified the group of Spicer's inclusion into the side, with the teenage sensation becoming the 1,038th player to pull on the North Melbourne jumper.

Teammate Jed Anderson handed Spicer his jumper, commending the youngster on his efforts in his maiden season in the competition.

Spicer's debut campaign has been impacted by injury after suffering a hamstring setback midway through the year.

The first-year Roo stated his excitement to be playing this weekend after battling a tough season to-date.

"It's been a tough year, I struggled a bit at the start of the year," Spicer said after being handed his jumper.

"Im glad I've got a lot of help and support by the coaches and with you boys here.

"I'm so grateful, thank you."

Spicer joins Will Phillips, Tom Powell, Eddie Ford, Charlie Lazzaro and Charlie Comben in making his debut with North Melbourne in 2021.
