Star Geelong recruit Jack Steven tweaked his calf at training, according to AFL.com.au.

The 29-year old has been training away from the main group over the last fortnight as he builds up to full fitness.

He is coming off just a seven-game campaign for the Saints last year due to mental health issues before getting traded to Geelong during the exchange period.

The four-time St Kilda best and fairest winner is expected to re-join the main group in the coming days in a bid to feature in the Cats' first Marsh Community Series clash against Gold Coast on February 22.

Steven is not the only Cat banged up, with Joel Selwood (hamstring), Mitch Duncan (hip/shoulder) Tom Stewart (groin) all on individual programs.

Jake Kolodjashnij (hip) and Mark O'Connor (tip) are also dealing with injuries.
