St Kilda ruckman Billy Longer won't play football against for the rest of the season, as he looks to focus on his health and wellbeing.

Longer hasn't played football since a sinus issue and concussion symptoms sidelined him in round 10, and the Saints are fully behind Longer as he takes leave away from the game.

“We have been working with Billy as he deals with some physical symptoms that have prevented him from getting back to full training,” St Kilda's General Manager of Football Simon Lethlean told the club's website.

“After working with our medicos, the Club and Billy have decided that the best approach is for Billy to step away from football for the remainder of the season and concentrate on his health and well-being”

“We will continue to support him through our club doctor and make sure he has access to specialists as required.”
