Collingwood forward Alex Fasolo will miss at least six weeks with an ankle injury after suffering an injury during the Pies' clash with St Kilda on Saturday night.

In Fasolo's first game of the season, the forward limped off before half-time, before re-emerging to sit on the bench for the second half.

Collingwood's General Manager of Football Geoff Walsh spoke to the club's website about the severity of his injury, and is hopeful he'll only miss six weeks, but admits it could be a little longer.

“Alex has a pretty serious ankle injury, which is a terrible shame for him. It was his first senior game for the year and he only lasted until half time,” Walsh told Collingwood Media.

“That ankle injury is more than likely something that will see him sidelined for a significant period of time.

“We are looking at around six or seven weeks at this stage, and because it’s such a long time frame, that could be fluid, so hopefully that doesn’t end up being the outer reaches of it, but right now, that’s what our medical specialists are saying.”

Walsh also confirmed Ben Reid should be available for selection against the Bulldogs this Friday night providing he gets through training on Wednesday.

“Ben ran really strongly last week and over the weekend. He will join in the full training session on Wednesday and, hopefully, he will get through that as we expect him to," Walsh added.

“(If so) he will be available for selection.”
