Carlton captain Marc Murphy will miss the next 3-4 weeks after scans confirmed the 30-year-old has suffered plantar fascia damage in his left foot.

Murphy suffered the injury in the Blues' loss to Melbourne last week, and will now be sidelined until at least the club's Round 12 bye.

"Clearly this is a disappointing outcome for Marc and the Club." Carlton's Head of Football Andrew McKay told carltonfc.com.au

"There was swelling in the area and as such, we had to let it settle before we could assess it properly. Scans last night have revealed the tear in the fascia and the surrounding scar tissue.

"He will ease back into the training program and we expect him to be available in three to four weeks."
