Adelaide half back flanker, Brodie Smith, will be a Crow until at least the end of 2021 after signing a three-year contract extension.

After tragically rupturing his ACL in the finals last season, Smith has been an integral member of Adelaide's back six, ranking number one at the Crows for meters gained and second at the club for effective kicks and rebound 50's in 2017.

“It’s been a difficult offseason for me with the knee reconstruction, but to be able to agree to a new deal is both comforting and exciting,” Smith told afc.com.au.

“Adelaide is just a great Club to be a part of and I’ve formed some really close relationships with players, coaches and staff who are all trying to get the best out of each other.

After making the All Australian team in 2014, the former No.14 pick is excited to be apart of the Crows for the next 3 years.

“I couldn’t imagine playing football anywhere else and I will be doing everything I can to get back out on the park with my teammates as quickly as I can.”

Crows General Manager for List Management and Strategy, Justin Reid heaped praise upon Smith, commending the leadership and seniority he shows at the club.

“Brodie is one of the most damaging running defenders in the competition who has a unique ability to break the lines,” Reid told the club's website.

“Over the last few years, we’ve really seen him grow as both a player and a leader within the group.

Victorian born Smith, who was a free agent come seasons end, would be glad to put the speculation of a return home to bed, where he can now be fully focused on his recovery from his ACL injury.
