Western Bulldogs veteran defender Dale Morris may have played his last game for the club, after suffering a broken arm during his side's win over Gold Coast at Metricon Stadium on Saturday.

The club has confirmed Morris will miss the next six to eight weeks of football, and with just five rounds of the home-and-away season left, the 34-year-old could have played his last game of 2017.

As Morris is out of contract at season's end, the 239-game veteran's future now hangs in the balance.

“In the second quarter of the game on the weekend Dale Morris fell really heavily on his right arm,” Western Bulldogs head physiotherapist Chris Bell told westernbulldogs.com.au.

“X-rays confirmed post game that Dale fractured the radius bone in his forearm.  Dale’s gone in for surgery this afternoon to have a plate and screws put into that fracture site to realign it and at this stage we’re guessing that Dale’s going to miss the next six to eight weeks of footy.”

Ling Jong and Roarke Smith are both on the long-term injury list after suffering ACL injuries earlier this season, and Bell told the club's website the pair are progressing nicely.

“Both of our ACL boys are making really good progress,” he said.

“Jongy’s back into some strengthening around his knee and has started some bike riding and Roarke has ticked off some early stages of his rehab and has progressed to outside running which is really exciting.”
