The Western Bulldogs have confirmed young key forward Jamarra Ugle-Hagan has taken a leave of absence from the club.
Ugle-Hagan has not played for the Bulldogs at any level this year due to personal matters, with his time away from the Dogs set to be extended.
The club released a statement on Tuesday, revealing a mutual decision was made for the 23-year-old to step away from his duties for the time being.
The Bulldogs stated that a "management plan" has been organised for the former No.1 pick.
Western Bulldogs football boss Sam Power said that Ugle-Hagan's wellbeing "remains the absolute priority" for all involved.
"Jamarra's health and wellbeing remains the absolute priority and he will be given whatever time he needs,โ Power said in a club statement.
"We will continue to support Jamarra throughout this period.โ
Ugle-Hagan has trained at Whitten Oval sporadically this year, with his last game in the red, white and blue coming in the Dogs' elimination final loss to Hawthorn last September.
The athletic key forward has played a total of 67 games for the Bulldogs for a return of 103 goals, leading the club's goalkicking last year with 43 majors from his 22 games.
Coach Luke Beveridge recently flagged he had planned to meet with Ugle-Hagan and the AFL amid the uncertainty surrounding the Dogs player's future.
