Arguably the Adelaide Crows' most important commodity in Izak Rankine has re-committed his future to the club he grew up supporting, tacking five years onto his existing contract - one due for expiry at the conclusion of next season.

Rankine is now tied to West Lakes until the conclusion of the 2032 season, in a major boost for the club, and massive vote of confidence in the direction taken by Matthew Nicks and co.

Rankine defected from the Gold Coast Suns - the club of his drafting - during the 2022 trade period, and has managed 127 games and 178 goals across his stints with the two clubs.

The Flinders Park product re-wrote personal high-water marks for himself in 2026, setting personal bests in disposals (24.4), clearances (5.2) and marks (4.3) across 22 games.

The news comes on the heels of the superstar's fifth-placed finish in the Malcolm Blight Medal on Friday night.

The 26-year-old said the decision to extend was an easy one.

“I grew up a diehard Crows supporter and playing here is all I've ever wanted,” Rankine said.

“The support from the club, the connection I've built with our fans and the genuine love the people of Adelaide have shown me, it made this an easy decision.

“Now it's about repaying that faith and helping this club pursue premiership success.

“That's what our fans deserve.”

Crows list boss, Hawthorn legend Jarryd Roughead was buoyed by Rankine's re-commitment.

“To have a player of Izak's calibre committed to our club for the next six seasons is a fantastic result,” Roughead said.

“On the field, he brings a level of class and skill that elevates his teammates, particularly now that he's made that move into the midfield… Look no further than the final third of the season to see just what he is capable of.

“And away from footy he is a high-quality person who brings a lot of energy and character to the locker room.

“We're excited to see what he can achieve over the next six years for himself and for the club.”
