St Kilda midfielder Dan Hannebery has suffered yet another soft tissue injury, with the club announcing that the former Swan is set to remain sidelined indefinitely.

Per a report from Fox Sport's Tom Morris, the 30-year-old was reportedly nearing a return to football via the VFL before he re-injured his calf at training last Saturday.

Hannebery has been plagued by the same calf injury since early January.

"Dan has been increasing his training load over recent weeks, reaching near full train capacity in recent days", St Kilda COO Simon Lethlean said on Wednesday night.

"However, he has not been able to manage that threshold or higher, so won’t be progressing towards full training or playing for another few weeks.

"So there is no definite timeline on his return".

Since arriving at Moorabbin from Sydney during the 2018 trade period, Hannebery has appeared in just 13 games out of a possible 51.

The premiership Swan is contracted at the Saints until the end of 2022, but has a trigger for 2023 after agreeing to a long-term arrangement when he arrived.

Hannebery joins a host of other injured big-name Saints, including Jake Carlisle, Jarryn Geary, Jade Gresham, Zak Jones and Rowan Marshall.

The 5-7 Saints will also enter their Round 13 clash against the Crows in Cairns without the services of integral cogs Tim Membrey and Seb Ross, after the pair left the club's hub to attend to respective personal matters during the week.
