Hawthorn are set to request a showcase ANZAC Day game for 2022, and have also requested a popular Melbourne opponent for their annual emergency services game.

The Hawks have asked the AFL for these blockbuster games to go along with their Easter Monday clash with Geelong.

The Ageย is reporting that the Hawks are keen for their ANZAC Day opponents to be a big Melbourne based club for what could be a showcase game in their last season playing in Tasmania.

The long-standing deal between the two teams is set to expire at the end of the season.

Collingwood have featured against the Hawks in the last three editions of the emergency services game. However, last season's game was played in front of no fans during Melbourne's lockdown.

The report goes on to state that Hawthorn are keen to use a big Melbourne club to attract a big crowd to the game with the Hawks dwindling fortunes on field meaning crowds may not be attending in as much force as they once did.

Other requests to the AFL include the Lions wishing to host both Collingwood and Essendon with the Lions hoping the former visit on Eatser Thursday. While Carlton and Collingwood are again keen to meet twice this season.
