AFLW expansion side Hawthorn is showing significant interest in North Melbourne speedster Kaitlyn Ashmore, just days after pulling off a stunning move to secure Irish defender Aileen Gilroy from Arden Street.

After the AFLW Sign and Trade Period opened yesterday, the Hawks are revving up their interest in the 30-year-old according to womens.afl. However, there are no further details surrounding how Bec Goddard's side can pull off the move.

Ashmore has played 33 games for the Kangaroos after moving from the Lions, where she was a part of their inaugural list, playing 16 games between 2017 and 2018.

In what would be another shock in the AFLW, the move would make Ashmore the second Roo to join the Hawks, after Irish gun Gilroy chose to sign for the brown and gold, despite telling North officials that she would stay at the club.

However, the Kangaroos are set to push hard to retain the services of the midfielder for the new season.

Womens.afl are also reporting that clubs are keen on securing the Hawks' later draft picks after the AFLW draft order was announced earlier this week.

It is understood that St Kilda, Richmond and Geelong are teams interested in trading back their first-round selections in exchange for Hawthorn's picks further down the draft order.

The Sign and Trade Period will close on Wednesday June 8th at 3pm AEST.
