GWS is open to listening to offers regarding club legend Lachie Whitfield as the Giants look towards a mini regeneration of their list.
Whitfield is contracted for next year, and has been discussed by St Kilda as a potential trade target, who want to bolster their running defence for 2027.
The Giants have farewelled Jesse Hogan, Kieren Briggs and Jake Stringer, while captain Toby Greene looms as another departure, with Geelong pushing hard for his signature.
According to SEN, GWS are all ears regarding offers for Whitfield, as well as teammate Harry Himmelberg, in a bid to improve their draft hand before the introduction of Tasmania.
The Giants would want a first-round selection for Whitfield, with the Saints looming as a potential destination.
The two-time All-Australian has links to Victoria, having been drafted from the Dandenong Stingrays in 2012.
Adding to the intrigue was Whitfield was spotted playing golf with Carlton duo Nick Haynes and Ollie Hollands. Haynes and Whitfield spent more than a decade together at the Giants.
Both the Blues and Saints are in the market for a running halfback.
Carlton will like to bolster the position following the departures of Zac Williams, Adam Saad and Jordan Boyd.
As for St Kilda, another running mate for Brad Hill and Nasiah Wanganeen-Milera would also free up the speedy pair to push further up the ground.
A link to the Saints is recruiting boss Stephen Silvagni, who helped the Giants draft Whitfield leading into their inaugural season.
