Fremantle forward Josh Treacy is a chance to miss this weekend's clash with Geelong and potentially further as he deals with a knee injury sustained in Round 21.

Treacy went down with the concern in the last term of Sunday's one-point loss to Essendon, however was able to return to the field and see out the game.

Coach Justin Longmuir stated his confidence that Treacy has dodged a significant setback after the match, with the in-form forward requiring further assessment in the wake of the weekend.

Treacy went unmentioned in Fremantle's injury update on Tuesday in what was an initial sign of relief for Dockers fans, only for Longmuir to reveal to media the following day that Treacy is no certainty to face the Cats.

"He hurt himself late in that last quarter, he's got a collision injury. It's not significant but he's going to be touch and go for this week," Longmuir said.

"He's getting some further information, we'll make a decision. He's a little bit sore but we haven't given up hope he plays this weekend.

"He had scans but we need a bit more information."

Treacy will be among a contingent of Dockers players who won't train at Wednesday's session given the club's six-day turnaround from interstate travel. Longmuir noted ruckman Sean Darcy "isn't 100%" but is right to play for this weekend after a taxing season so far for the Dockers tall.

Fremantle will be forced into at least one change with the Dockers accepting forward Tom Emmett's one-game suspension for rough conduct. Midfielder Matt Johnson could come into the side after a successful return through the WAFL on limited minutes after dealing with a foot injury, while veteran Nat Fyfe is likely to come into the team to face the Cats after serving his own suspension.

Veteran forward Michael Walters is at least another week away with his hamstring injury, while captain Alex Pearce is in line to ramp up his training workload next week as he eyes a late-season comeback.

Fringe defensive pair Oscar McDonald (knee) and Ollie Murphy (abdomen) are set to exit reconditioning programs and could be available as early as next week.

The Dockers host Geelong at Optus Stadium on Saturday at 2:35pm local time, with a win potentially taking them to third on the ladder.
