Six Time Grammy award winners the Black Eyed Peas have been named as pre-game entertainment for this year's AFL Grand Final.

On Friday, the AFL confirmed that the Black Eyed Peas and Australian legend Jimmy Barnes will perform a couple of their big hits before the bounce in the Virgin Australia Pre-Game show.

The last time the Black Eyed Peas performed in Australia was in 2009.

Will.i.am, Apl.de.ap and Taboo have sold 50 million albums across the world and have won 11 ARIA awards.

"We are honored to be heading to Melbourne to perform at the AFL Grand Final day," the Black Eyed Peas told afl.com.au.

"This is the biggest day in Australian sport, so we will be pulling out all the stops for this special performance."

Don't Phunk With My Heart and I Gotta Feeling are just a couple of the Black Eyed Peas' best hits as they have had five top 10 ARIA singles.

Barnes will be on stage for the premiership party, with a free concert to follow the Grand Final at 7pm at the G.

The Aussie icon has had 15 No.1 albums in Australia alone and has also been inducted into the ARIA Hall Of Fame.

"I'm looking forward to singing at one of the world's greatest sporting events," Barnes said.

"It's going to be a huge day on the ground at the MCG. It doesn't get bigger than this, 100,000 passionate football fans and rock 'n roll will be a great mix."

Barnes' daughter Mahalia will be singing the Australian national anthem before the first bounce.
