Greater Western Sydney veteran Steve Johnson will most likely miss this weekend's clash with Port Adelaide at UNSW Canberra Oval.

Johnson, who did not train on Wednesday, has been battling knee soreness and along with Ryan Griffen (ankle) looks set to watch his teammates from the stands.

He is likely to be replaced in the side by Jon Patton, who made his return via the NEAFL last weekend.

"It's disappointing about Ryan Griffen, Steve Johnson is unlikely this weekend but we'll wait until Friday to make that call," coach Leon Cameron said on Wednesday.

Patton kicked 2.3, collected 14 disposals and took six marks in the reserves' loss to Sydney University.

Johnson played through the injury against North Melbourne in Hobart last weekend and booted his 500th career goal in the win.
