Greater Western Sydney ruckman Braydon Preuss is facing close to two months on the sidelines after suffering further setbacks in his anticipated return to the AFL.

As reported by Fox Sports' Tom Morris, Preuss is believed to have torn a pectoral muscle whilst at the gym and is now likely to remain sidelined for eight weeks.

The 25-year-old is yet to feature for his new club after sustaining a shoulder injury in February this year, with a return initially expected to come in the next month.

However, Preuss' latest setbacks could spell an end to his hopes of making his Giants debut this year, but Morris reports the club are yet to put a line through their recruit.

So far this season the Giants have found positives in Preuss' absence, handing debuts to Matt Flynn and Kieren Briggs.

Flynn has played six games in 2021 after making his debut in Round 1 and has shared the ruck workload with veteran Shane Mumford, with the pair having just played their first game as a partnership in Round 10 against West Coast.

Flynn had awaited 1,944 days since being drafted to the Giants in 2015 to make his senior debut and has thoroughly impressed at AFL level.
