Geelong premiership defender Jake Kolodjashnij is set to announce his retirement from the AFL as soon as this week.
Kolodjashnij was enveloped in the concussion document saga that was revealed in July, which noted that the Cats had attempted to waive rights and any legal risks for the club in the case of future brain injury.
In August, the AFL handed down a $140,000 fine after failing to formally submit the concussion agreement.
The 31-year-old has played 35 games since signing the document in 2024, but has managed just 11 this year and hasn't featured since Round 18, when news of the side deal emerged.
According to multiple reports, Kolodjashnij underwent multiple tests in the past month but failed to be cleared.
The premiership Cat's brother, Kade, also retired from brain injuries sustained during his time at Gold Coast and Melbourne.
