Geelong has officially lodged an updated offer for Essendon's Jordan Ridley, putting forward a future first-round pick,  Jack Bowes and another future late selection.

The Bombers held firm on Ridley's trade value, rejecting Geelong's initial offer of a future first-round pick for the 27-year-old.

The key defender is contracted in the black and red until the end of 2029; the Bombers wanted more out of the initial offer received by the Cats.

“We've had some discussions with Geelong; there's strong interest from another club in him as well,” Essendon list manager Matt Rosa said of Ridley.

“We'll just have those discussions with an open mind. Jordan is contracted for another three years and clearly one of our most highly talented players.

“So the value of him means we want to keep him at the club. But we'll continue to have those conversations.”

Ridley has managed only 26 matches in the last three years, playing only seven in 2026, after having to deal with multiple injuries, while he has also been linked to North Melbourne and Brisbane.

The Bombers are shaping up to have a major trade period, already trading club champion Zach Merrett for pick 15, 25 and a future second-round pick, while also having the first pick in the upcoming draft.
