Fremantle has announced four changes to its list with Bailey Banfield, Sam Sturt, Ollie Murphy and Ryda Luke not being offered contracts for 2027.
Banfield has been a stoic and well-respected clubman for the Dockers since he was plucked as a mature-age recruit out of WAFL side Claremont in 2017.
The 28-year-old won the Jim Stynes Community Leadership Award during this year's Brownlow Medal night, after being nominated for the award on multiple occasions.
Banfield finishes his time at the Dockers having played 119 games across nine seasons.
It has been reported that two Victorian clubs are interested in Banfield's services for next season. He has spent time all over the ground for Fremantle as a midfielder, tagger, half forward and defender. He played one game in 2026.
Sturt has been cut from the list after an injury-plagued run at the Dockers.
Taken with Pick 17 in the 2018 National Draft, Sturt showed promise as a mid-sized forward and booted three goals on debut against Essendon in 2020.
However, the 190cm forward could never find continuity in his body and was restricted to 31 games and 43 goals in eight seasons.
Sturt had a career-best year in 2024 when he kicked 21 goals from 14 games. However, he failed to overcome injuries during the past two years and didn't play a single AFL match.
Murphy was taken with Pick 41 in the 2023 National Draft but didn't feature at AFL level.
Luke was selected as a Category B Rookie in 2025 but also didn't get a chance to make his AFL debut.
